Frequently Asked Questions
Is post-tension concrete worth the extra cost?
For a Tennis Court and full size Basketball Court, absolutely. For a Pickleball or half court Basketball, it is up to the owner's preference. We highly recommend post-tension as it doesn't have to have the saw cuts that then need to be filled and will see them through the surfacing.
How many coats does my court need in Las Vegas?
For new courts I highly recommend using 2 coats of resurfacer and 2 coats of color for the best looking, long lasting surface, but you can make do using 1 coat of resurfacer with 2 coats of color.
What surface do you use for your courts?
We primarily use acrylic paint with silica sand in it for texture. This product looks a lot nicer than modular tiles and gives a much nicer bounce. If the priority is tennis or pickleball, we will only recommend acrylic surfacing. We will use tiles for basketball courts occasionally.
Who do you use for your paint?
We use Plexipave and AT Sports. Both are professional grade and used for many pro events between tennis and pickleball.
Do you recommend a cushion surface?
It is a more premium surface, but we generally don't recommend it for outdoor courts. If the client wants it, we recommend the liquid applied option in Las Vegas or Henderson. It will be a little softer on the joints but is a lot more expensive. The cushion overlay is glued down and with our 115 degree summers, glue never sounds like the best idea.
How long does a new backyard court take to build?
Most residential new builds run 4–8 weeks from groundbreaking to final line striping, depending on size, site conditions, and weather.
Do you handle fencing, nets, and lighting?
Yes, we install fencing, net posts and nets, windscreens, and coordinate court lighting as part of a full build.
What sizes do you recommend for a backyard court?
Full-size tennis is 60' x 120'. A single pickleball court fits in about 30' x 60'. Half-court basketball typically runs 30' x 30' to 35' x 40'. We'll spec the right size to your yard and goals. If you don't have quite that much space, we will work with your specific space and with your budget and can adjust as needed.
