## Pickleball Court Dimensions and Layout

A regulation, or official, pickleball court measures 20 feet by 44 feet, and that is the same size for singles and doubles. For comfortable, safe play we recommend a total playing surface of 30 feet by 60 feet, which gives players enough space to move behind the baseline and along the two sidelines. That extra court area matters most on an outdoor court, where wind and sun come into play. The net stands 36 inches high at the sidelines and 34 inches at the center, with posts set 22 feet apart. The non-volley zone, known as the kitchen, extends 7 feet from the net on each side. Wherever the site allows, we use a north south orientation so the sun stays out of players' eyes during the busy morning and evening hours.

**Playing area:** 20 ft by 44 ft

**Recommended footprint:** 30 ft by 60 ft

**Net height:** 36 in at sidelines

**Post spacing:** 22 ft apart

**Non-volley zone:** 7 ft from net (the kitchen)

**Orientation:** North to south

## The Foundation: Post-Tension Concrete Built for Las Vegas Soil

Asphalt or concrete are both accepted bases for a pickleball court, and a standard concrete slab calls for at least 4 inches of 4,500 psi concrete. In Las Vegas, that standard alone is not enough. Our soil moves, and a plain slab can settle and crack within a few seasons. That is why we build on a post-tension concrete foundation engineered for local ground, cured and leveled to hold a true, consistent surface for years of daily play. Proper planning and a level subsurface prevent the low spots that ruin bounce and drainage later on. If a site or an existing slab is not a good candidate, we will tell you before any work begins.

For every stage from site visit to line striping, see our guide on [how to build a pickleball court](https://onpointcourtsurfacing.com/blog/how-to-build-a-pickleball-court).

## Surfaces, Texture, and Color

Choosing the right pickleball court surface comes down to how you want it to play. Acrylic is the most popular surface type, and it is the standard choice for an official court surface. It delivers a consistent bounce, reliable traction, and a wide range of color coatings that hold up under desert sun. For players who want more give underfoot, cushioned pickleball court surfaces add shock absorption over extended periods of play, which is easier on knees and joints. We finish every court with factory-mixed color and regulation USA Pickleball line striping, and we will walk you through the court surface materials and color options so the finished court fits your space and your style.

## New Court, Convert, or Add Lines

Whether you want a single court or multiple courts, a full pickleball court installation or just fresh lines, we build outdoor pickleball courts for homes, HOAs, and public courts across the valley.

### Build new

A dedicated pickleball court fits on a 30 by 60 ft footprint. We pour a post-tension slab engineered for Las Vegas soil, then finish with acrylic color and regulation USA Pickleball lines.

### Convert a tennis court

One tennis court has room for up to four pickleball courts, or a single court with space to spare. If the slab is sound, conversion is the fastest and most affordable way onto the court.

### Add lines only

Sharing an existing court? We add regulation blended or contrast lines so pickleball and tennis both play clean on the same court.

Already have a court? See [pickleball court resurfacing](https://onpointcourtsurfacing.com/pickleball-court-resurfacing) for what a resurface costs and when yours is due, or [court line striping](https://onpointcourtsurfacing.com/court-line-striping) if all you need is lines.

## Fencing, Lighting, and the Finishing Touches

### Fencing

A wire mesh fence keeps the ball inside the playing area, protects nearby windows and landscaping, and adds security for players and spectators. Wire fencing is the most common choice, and we build every fence from rust-resistant materials made for the local climate.

### Lighting

For evening play, we design LED lighting that avoids shadows and glare. A typical single court runs on two poles rated around 1,500 watts each, set 16 to 20 feet high and positioned to light the surface evenly while keeping spill out of neighbors' yards.

### Finishing touches

A court can grow into a full space with shaded seating, landscaping, and features like fountains or a pavilion. Landscaping and hedges help buffer sound, and USA Pickleball noise-reduction solutions can be built in where neighbors are close. Portable net systems keep shared areas flexible.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What is the cost to build a new Pickleball Court?

It will range between $16,000 to $35,000. If you want to add fencing, basketball hoop, and/or Lighting expect to pay up to an additional 25,000. The reason for the range is due to different factors such as size, whether you choose post-tension concrete or saw cut concrete, and what color scheme you go with. 1 standard color will be the most cost effective, multiple custom colors will be more expensive. There are many variables to consider, this is why it's crucial to speak with an expert at court building to have a better understanding of what you'd like for your specific situation.

### How much does it cost to resurface a Pickleball Court?

It can range anywhere from $4,000–$8,500. The biggest factors to cost are whether it is a blank concrete slab or if it is already coated and how much repair is required. Post-tension concrete pickleball courts are the cheapest to resurface because they require the least repair and can even get done in 1–2 days when it is during a warm time of year.

### Can I add pickleball lines to my tennis court?

Yes. We can stripe one or multiple pickleball courts on an existing tennis court using a contrast color that keeps both sports easy to play.
